An adaptable café role-play for adult learners
A short practice sequence for polite requests and checking an order.
Set the scene
One learner is a customer and the other works at a café. Give each a short menu with familiar items and prices you choose for the activity.
Give a useful complication
The customer changes one item, asks about a drink size, or requests the bill. Keep the complication tied to language already introduced.
Swap and extend
Swap roles and change one detail. End by asking learners which expressions they could use outside class.
